Dow Credit Union Promotes Two Senior Executives

Midland, Michigan, April 26, 2023 – In recognition of their exceptional performance, Dow Credit Union has promoted two senior executives.

As the new vice president of human resources and marketing, Sheila Wright is expanding her responsibilities to oversee marketing, media relations and community relations. Mark Gandy has been named the new chief information officer, adding oversight of information technology to his responsibilities.

“I am grateful Sheila and Mark have accepted these new opportunities,” said Michael Goad, Dow Credit Union president and CEO. “They are both incredible leaders and team players who will excel in leading our impact and innovation efforts as we seek to serve our members even better.

“Sheila is a natural fit for strategizing how we share our story and showcase our award-winning products and services. Both of these are increasingly important as we continue to welcome new members with our expanded presence in the Great Lakes Bay Region and online.

“Mark brings best practices and incredible expertise to his new role from his time at Dow Chemical and Dow Corning. His insights will prove invaluable as we work to streamline and strengthen our systems to optimize internal efficiencies and provide ideal member experiences.”

Wright joined Dow Credit Union in 2008 as the manager of human resources, earning positions of increasing responsibility over the past 15 years as the organization grew to 170-plus employees. She brings more than two decades of experience in coaching, team building, labor relations, performance management and deferred compensation to her expanded role.

Prior to joining the Great Lakes Bay Region’s leading credit union, Wright spent eight years as human resources manager for leading auto supplier Dura Automotive, now Dura Automotive Systems. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University.

Gandy joined Dow Credit Union as director of security in 2019, also earning positions of increased responsibility. In addition to his oversight of IT for the 78,000-plus member credit union, he is also responsible for risk management, cybersecurity, information risk and compliance.

Prior to joining Dow Credit Union, Gandy spent nearly three decades with Dow Corning Corp. and the Dow Chemical Co. in positions focused on information and enterprise security, cybersecurity, business intelligence and risk management. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.

The promotions come as Dow Credit Union celebrates the retirement of Art Peters, who spent 12 years with the organization, most recently as chief operations officer. During his tenure, he oversaw IT, process improvement, business continuity planning, business analytics, marketing and other areas.
