Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams
June 17, 2026Fraudsters are increasingly targeting consumers through text messages, emails, and phone calls designed to look like they come from trusted organizations—including financial institutions.
These phishing scams attempt to trick people into sharing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, card details, and verification codes. The messages often create a sense of urgency, encouraging recipients to click a link, respond to a message, or provide personal information before taking time to verify the request.
At Dow Credit Union, protecting our members is a top priority. It's important to remember:
Dow Credit Union will never contact you and ask for:
- Your Online Banking or Mobile App password
- Two-step verification or authentication codes
- Debit or credit card information, including card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV codes
If someone claiming to represent Dow Credit Union requests any of this information, do not provide it.
When you receive an unexpected text, email, or phone call:
- Do not click on unexpected suspicious links.
- Do not respond to requests for personal or account information.
- Be cautious of messages that create urgency or pressure you to act immediately.
- Verify the request by contacting Dow Credit Union directly through a trusted phone number or by using Online Banking or the Mobile App.
Responding to scam communications can increase the likelihood of being targeted again in the future.
