Dow Credit Union Presents 2023’s "Dine & Unwind" with CAN Council

October 08, 2023

BAY CITY - The Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Council will host a fall "Dine & Unwind" event on Oct. 26 at the DoubleTree Hotel, raising funds and awareness for its services in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Presented by Dow Credit Union, the evening's festivities will be fall-themed. Chefs from across the Great Lakes Bay Region will prepare fall favorites, and seasonal craft beers and ciders will be served.

Proceeds from event sponsorships and ticket sales will fund the CAN Council's nationally recognized programs. Serving Bay, Saginaw, Arenac, and Huron Counties, the nonprofit provides school and community-based educational sessions on child abuse prevention.

"The support of our community means everything to us” CAN Council CEO Emily Yeager said.  “We're doing work for the community, and when they embrace it and they think it's important enough to support either as a volunteer or as a donor, it affirms for us that there are folks in the community who feel just as strongly about keeping our kids safe as we do."

Furthermore, the organization's Children’s Advocacy Centers offer a secure setting in which children who have experienced trauma can be interviewed, examined, and begin the healing process.

"In the past, a child may have been interviewed by as many as 13 professionals in different locations – in the back of a police car, at school, or even in the emergency room," the CAN Council stated. "This has changed with access to the Children’s Advocacy Centers."

At $75, general admission tickets are still available at the third-party site  https://cbo.io/tickets/dine/tix?fbclid=IwAR37Ft7CIM_I78JAt-P_8WU4ReCU74hWh4rP8a4s707FX-tdUav7xl6FyfU
