When you need to get money somewhere fast, we’ve got the answer!
An outgoing wire transfer is a quick, convenient and reliable way to move funds from your Dow Credit Union account to another financial institution. To wire funds from Dow Credit Union, members will need to obtain wire transfer instructions from the receiving financial institution. After obtaining the wire instructions from the receiving institution, a wire transfer can be initiated by contacting us.
Wire Transfers: What You Need to Know Before You Send
Wire transfers are a reliable way to move money quickly—but they also come with risks. Once a wire is sent, it’s typically final and cannot be reversed, even if it turns out to be part of a scam.
Because wire transfers are initiated by you, you are responsible for ensuring the request is legitimate. Unfortunately, if the funds are sent to a fraudulent recipient, the credit union is unable to recover or reimburse the loss.
Before You Send a Wire, Ask Yourself:
- Do I personally know and trust the person or business I’m sending money to?
- Was I contacted unexpectedly or through unfamiliar channels like email or text?
- Have I verified the request independently—such as calling a known phone number or visiting in person?
- Is the reason for the wire unusual—like prize winnings, a sudden emergency, or a last-minute change in payment instructions?
- Does anything about this request feel off or raise concerns?
