Members Treated to Donuts for I Love My Credit Union Day
July 28, 2023We celebrated "I Love My Credit Union Day" on July 28, joining 700 other institutions around the world in marking the strides our movement has made in serving its membership.
Our leadership arranged for complimentary coffee and donuts to be served in the atrium of our Midland branch between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The refreshments were available to credit union professionals and members alike, and several stopped to share their personal experiences.
"I have banked here since 1968, back when it was in the old building on Third," one member said. "My husband worked for Dow Chemical back then, and I did too for a while. Everyone here has always been so kind and courteous, so yes, I do love my credit union."
We all have a great deal to be proud of as members and professionals. This year, I Love My Credit Union Day happened to fall on the anniversary of our founding. Eighty-six years ago, a group of Dow employees gathered to sign our charter, even as the Great Depression ravaged Michigan. We started with a few spare offices in the Dow personnel building, but we will cut the ribbon on our second branch in just a few months.
"Our membership has grown, and with it, the cooperative's assets," Director of Community Relations LaShanta Green said. "Dow Credit Union is at the forefront of the credit union movement, and that's an achievement everyone here can celebrate."
